governance
It refuses, and it remembers
Brand rules in most tools are a document nobody opens. Here they are typed objects that run on every export, and the release record outlives the person who made it.
Nine rule types
- Banned phraseWord-boundary matching, so a rule against fight leaves firefighter alone. Carries the replacement wording.
- Required disclaimerThe text must appear in the release, on the surfaces you name.
- Reading levelFlesch–Kincaid against your grade ceiling.
- Privacy sweepEmails, phone numbers, postcodes, and card numbers behind a Luhn check so an order reference is not read as a payment detail.
- Closed periodArithmetic against the calendar. Between quarter end and results, performance copy is caught.
- Claim restrictionA factual claim needs a linked source.
- Already public?Every figure has to already appear in a public source before it ships.
- Market rulesJudged against the jurisdictions the content runs in.
- Style ruleHouse conventions a pattern cannot express.
Every rule you set runs on every export, with a severity and the surfaces it applies to. Five types are decided in code, four are read by a model, and every finding says which.
Three tiers, never blurred
- VerifiedCode decided it. Pass or fail is a fact.
- ReviewedA model inspected the content — an unsubstantiated claim, advice aimed at one individual, a person’s name in a case study.
- SteeredThe rule went into the brief. Anything the reviewer did not reach is labelled steered, including when review is switched off or errors.
Approval bound to the content
Sign-off fingerprints exactly what was reviewed, so changing a headline flips the approval to needs re-approval on its own. The fingerprint covers what is said, not where the text box sits.
The release record
Exporting requires a named person to acknowledge a statement generated from that specific check, and waiving a blocking rule takes a written reason. The record is append-only and the rules are snapshotted at release, so neither the person accountable nor a later brand-kit edit can rewrite what a past release was checked against.
Six starting points by sector
Health and care, financial services, legal, recruitment, food and supplements, and a sector-neutral privacy sweep — working rule sets rather than a blank screen, encoding each sector’s marketing conventions and ready for someone who knows your obligations to sharpen.
